Detailed Project Proposal - Life Miracle1.Introduction Life Miracle 298 (hereinafter referred to as “298”) is a major initiative of Gideon Ministries (hereinafter referred to as “Gideon”) scheduled for 2026. It will be the first project in Gideon’s history involving full team mobilization together with a large-scale volunteer force.
Following the release of the documentary “Hong Kong Four Trails” (hereinafter “Four Trails”), the film unexpectedly drew public attention and renewed focus on Hong Kong’s country parks, hiking culture, and outdoor recreational activities. Since the Pat Sin Leng mountain incident in 1995, the education sector has taken an extremely cautious approach towards outdoor activities. Wilderness-based adventure training was also affected, and related professional development came to a standstill. The screening of Four Trails has undoubtedly reignited momentum in this area. With Hong Kong’s four major long-distance trails now well-developed as tourism routes, it is time to leverage their influence to further promote youth engagement in nature-based activities—helping young people regain resilience, motivation, and personal growth in the outdoors. Meanwhile, the rising threat of emerging drugs—particularly “Happy Grass/Oil”— continues to harm young people. According to a YAHOO News report on 18 March 2025, the Security Bureau revealed that 300 cases of such drug use were reported in 2024, with 75% involving youths aged 21 or below. The Council on Smoking and Health warns that the situation has reached an alarming level. This project indirectly supports anti-drug prevention and simultaneously equips young people with healthy character development and resilience-building. As a youth outdoor training organization, Gideon has extensive experience using the Four Trails as regular training grounds. By consolidating existing knowledge and collaborating with mountain training experts, we aim to launch this initiative with mutual learning and growth.
4. Project Structure
19. Conclusion Youth drug abuse and suicide reflect the fragility of young lives and their inability to withstand life pressures due to insufficient resilience.
This program moves from the outward to the inward—from Outward Bound to Inward Bound. Completing all four trails becomes the catalyst for developing moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic, and spiritual growth, enabling young people to face life courageously. This is an alternative form of life education. May the Lord guide Gideon, so that in this challenging generation, young people may return to nature’s classroom, experience transformation, and discover miracles along 298 kilometers of positive journey. |
